PARTNERSHIPS

Over the years Sutcliffe Vineyards has established remarkable relationships with a growing number of brilliant restaurants, resorts, and merchants. Creating wines together, holding glamorous events and providing a welcoming place for professionals in the world of wine to share, study, and develop. We are proud and grateful for these friendships which are understood and enjoyed by our loyal following of wine lovers. The Vineyard loves having our great partners join us in crafting wines. It is a full, time consuming, authentic, and fascinating process. They are a diverse, interesting group sharing a desire to make wonderful wines tailored to their operation.

Private Labels

  • Dunton Hot Springs - Dunton, CO

Johannes and Paul, the sons of Dunton's owners Katrin and Christoph Henkel, spent summer after summer at the Vineyard during their summer holidays from boarding school in England. Their involvement was absolute, laboring in the vines, during harvest and in the demanding creation of the wine. It was only a short step to use our shared knowledge and friendship to craft wines that would reflect the brilliance and distinctiveness of the Dunton resort.

  • Telluride Ski & Golf - Telluride, CO

A friendship had developed between SV's winemakers and some genuine young wine buffs in Telluride. They were employed in restaurants and super eager to be involved in the Vineyard. It was pretty casual initially but quickly developed into a working partnership: Dustin, Oulli and Andrew became part of the crew. At some point a plan was hatched to make a wine together, a big wine, a lusty wine that might be perfect for Telluride Ski and Golf and their colorful, eccentric clientele. It has never been a casual endeavour, rather it has been time consuming, intense but of course great fun. The Vineyards crafting of the Telluride Red has prospered for 15 years, thank you Telluride Ski and Golf to allow us to enjoy this genuine partnership. We love seeing our blend at Alpino Vino, Tomboy Tavern, Allred's, and the newly opened wine bar in Mountain Village, Communion.

  • Tinderbox - Flagstaff, AZ

John Sutcliffe had the temerity to persuade Kevin Heinon, the owner of the Tinder Box and 3 other restaurants that SV should make their Proprietary wine, days after the first met. Kevin assumed that SV would want some money up front to embark upon this plan. Not so, "the wine we make together will be terrific and I will have no problem selling it elsewhere if you fink out." Sutcliffe replied. A fabulous parnership was established and has continued seamlessly for 12 years.

  • Eolus - Durango, CO

We have also felt a deep connection to Eolus as they began serving our wines on their opening day. We had watched James and Arche develop this beautiful restaurant and were delighted when it became theirs alone. Their "Blustery Red" is a joint effort with the Vineyard and we constantly receive accolades on how well it works with their constantly creative menu. We are luck enough to have lots more of our wines on their list.

Friends & Allies

  • Dunton Town House - Telluride, CO

To ensure that Dunton guests have somewhere comparable to stay in Telluride (just over the mountain) the Dunton Town House on Oak Street was lovingly restored. There is always staff on hand to pilot guests through the best of Telluride, and even help with skis or a picnic on the interminable, two minute walk to the Gondola.

  • The National - Telluride, CO

How did the National in Telluride become the place to be within moments of opening? Having Marrin and her brilliant staff operating the place didn’t hurt. It feels like a serious city restaurant. Super design, delicious, creative food and a really sophisticated spot. Proud to have our wines there.

  • Steamworks Brewing Co. - Durango, CO

When every restaurant and bar in Durango is dead, Steamworks is cranking. They make great beer, great food, it’s a constant party and they love to serve Sutcliffe Wines…. no wonder they are so incredibly successful.

  • Kennebec Cafe - Durango, CO

Inspired by the casual elegance of European cafes, Kennebec Cafe offers a unique dining experience in an atmosphere of casual elegance, gracious hospitality and warm comfortable surroundings.

  • Amangiri - Canyon Point, UT

Amangiri might be America’s most glamorous resort. An architectural masterpiece lying amongst towering, desiccated canyon walls, just minutes from Lake Powell and the tumbling waters of the Colorado River. Every couple of months Sutcliffe Vineyards does an evening of wine, stories and paired dinners, made even more interesting by the fascinating array of guests in this magical place.

  • The Butcher & The Baker Cafe - Telluride, CO

The Butcher & The Baker Cafe in Telluride is constantly and justifiably busy. Committed to local, fresh, organic and, equally important, truly delicious food. We find their wickedly tempting pastries irresistible, and always delighted to register their commitment to Sutcliffe Wines.
